Hello everyone and good morning from me. It is bright and early on a Monday morning, and I am. Oh, I'm happy to start the week off with all of you. I didn't plan to, I actually usually record my sessions on a Sunday, but yesterday I tried everything and it just was not working. I had to start over many times over.
Yes, it absolutely still happens to me. Couldn't get my words out. And then my recording platform, I use Riverside, just decided to not record yesterday. There was a bug in the system. Hello Mercury retrograde, but we're here on a Monday and I think this is absolutely perfect. It is bright and sunny outside today, thank goodness.
'cause the weather's been so weird. On the Gold Coast. We also have iced coffee, which is wonderful, so she's keeping me company. I might need to take some slurp breaks in between. Deb will edit those out so you'll not hear them. And I'm excited for this week 'cause I am opening up my one and only live program of 2025.

That is the whole secret. Learning how to message clearly. Now, this is a perfect little runway into what I wanna talk about today. I thought I'd do something a little different. So I'm gonna share with you intensely around my client sessions, but in particular one. So what I've done for this episode is I've actually taken the Zoom AI transcript from one of my client sessions.
She's given me full consent. By the way, I am not doing this sneakily behind her back. The only thing she's asked for is obviously her name and her business name be removed, which I totally respect. But you're still gonna get a feel for the session itself. And the reason why I wanted to choose this, the reason why I asked her if I could choose this is because I know there are a ton of you who are literally in this same exact energy, and I wanna share with you what I said to her, the coaching conversations behind it, the breakthrough behind it.
But this conversation has also really, really helped me. Because it's not just one person going through this in the whole entire world. I think there is so much merit in being in close proximity, yes to your expanders, but also knowing that there are other people going through what you're going through and listening to how they're moving through that.
You know, that jello feeling, that feeling of being in the shadows, that feeling of. Being stuck in the middle. You know, a couple of weeks ago I recorded an episode of being in that gap between wanting and receiving. You can go back and have a look at where that episode is, and that has to be one of the highest listened to episodes for this last quarter on this podcast, and it doesn't surprise me like I totally understand that there's been a lot of.
Waiting. There's been a lot of patience. There's been a lot of longing. There's been a lot of crying out to the universe saying, when is it my time? You are looking around. Maybe it's on socials, maybe it's just in your local community and you are seeing other businesses booming. You are seeing people killing it on Instagram or wherever it is that you hang out.
You are seeing, you know, so much success all around you, and that is a great sign, by the way. It's not meant to trigger you. It's just a great sign that you are tuned in to see people's success in their businesses. So please don't try and ever ward that away. It's just basically around you because you are calling it in and it's showing you how close you are.
But let's get back to my client because my client has genuinely been feeling so freaking annoyed at the universe. And you know, my clients, they show up in their. Full form, and I love that. Like we have the best discussions. It's never just like a clinical diagnosis type of discussion. It's always just like, Ruby, I'm so fucking annoyed.
I've been showing up, I've been trying everything. I've been doing all the things that I'm supposed to have done, and yet I just feel like my message still isn't cutting through. And I've done everything you've said and I've rewritten, I've rewritten, I've used chat, GPT, I've been finding inspiration from other voices on the internet that I really love.
And meanwhile. Meanwhile, it seems like someone who isn't even trying and who's barely showing up online is slicing through the algorithm like butter. And it is so difficult to be in that energy every single day and being a creator online. Now I'm gonna use interchange, the word creator and coach. If you are a personal brand, you're a creator because you are more than likely sitting down for 50, 60% of your week creating content in some way, even if you are not the one who's actually posting it on socials like you.
For instance, you might have someone like a Deb. On my team who, you know, edits stuff for you or put stuff up on Instagram, you are still creating the content. Like you might be sending your VA a Google Doc full of your words, or you might be, you know, sharing stuff with your social media manager so that they can go ahead and repurpose it regardless, you are still a creator and you're still thinking about ways that you can put your business out there in a way that makes sense.
So let's discuss. My wonderful client came into the Zoom call, genuinely feeling like she's shouting into the echo chamber, is that you, she felt so exhausted by how much effort that she's pouring in and deeply, deeply saddened like it was this energy of, I'm just so sad. And I'm angry and I'm irritated that I'm watching other people really go bigger.
And the thing is, where, this is what we're gonna talk about today, where she's spiraling out is she follows a lot of people who are doing what she does in her industry. And you guys. Please be aware of how many people that you are following that is in your industry. I am absolutely shameless in saying that I do not follow many people.
You can go to my Instagram account and you can see I, I'm following less than 200 people and even so there are some weeks where I'm like, oh my God, I need to like pull this all the way back because you wanna be in your own energy. Now I'll say there are three people that I follow who are doing the things that I want to do, and I love following them.
It's not a trigger, it's, it's a possibility. Where my client is at is she is following people who are in her industry, doing what she wants to do, and she is getting jealous of them, and she's getting triggered around them and she's getting angry in comparison that she's not where they are at. Now, this is the thing my loves.
We don't know what goes on behind the scenes of any business. We don't know someone's personal journey. We don't even know how long they've been in business for unless you're following them super closely. There are some people that I'm following now and they are killing it, right? Like they are just doing so amazing online.
They've got what I wanna achieve. They're achieving passive income goals. They've got an amazing, authentic, connected, engaged audience. But I don't know how long they've been doing it for unless I dig really deep and there's one person that I follow and she's been doing it for 18 years. So there's context there.
I've been doing it for seven, like even more of a mirror. I've actually only been in this business model for not even one year, and yet here I am comparing my performance with her performance. Think about it. How are you comparing your performance to your gurus? The people that your air inspired by slash in bracket, jealous and triggered by?
You don't know. You don't know what their track record is, so I really wanted to share that because you need to wake up to the fact that you are giving away so much of your power to more generally speaking, the internet and what they're doing, but also whoever it is that you are pinning your hopes and dreams on.
And that's not on them. My loves, like if someone is triggered by me and the way that I show up, that's not on me. I don't even know that I'm doing that to somebody who's. Sitting in England or feeling resentful for my success. Like, you know, if you swap things around, that's kind of what it feels like. So be aware of that.
And I also want you to be aware, because what happened to my client was she started spiraling, like. I love it because it, it gives me a real insight into what's going on in their, in their minds. But this client, she sat down, we had a 50 minute conversation and for the first 30 minutes, so for most of the call, she was just speaking at me and obviously she needed to get off her chest, which is totally cool.
But she didn't realize until the end and I was, you know, obviously not trying to interrupt her, but writing profusely so that we could come back to these notes. Anyhow. So she started spiraling into things like, I really feel like this is what I need to do. I need, I've thought about it, and Rubes, what do you think?
I need to hire a videographer. I need to get better carousels. I need to learn Canberra more. I need to feel more professionally. I need to do more and more and more and more. And the list went on. It's exhausting when you're trying to fix something with ulterior things, but you are not fixing what's going on internally.
I had to say to her, because this is something that I definitely reflected back to her, that it's none of those things that she did not need to be doing more. But if anything, it's all in the energetics. It's all in how you hold your belief system. It's how you think about the big picture. And that's the thing, like looking at.
The way that this particular client was showing up on Instagram and is currently in the process of realizing, oh my gosh, this is the best thing about getting a fresh set of eyes on your business. So maybe this is you too. She's giving everything, all the tips, amazing advice, all the frameworks, all the stories, all the how tos, incredible value and guidance, and I kid you not, it is being met.
With perhaps one or two likes, no comments, no saves, no shares, and this has been going on pretty much all year. She's got a following of about 2000 people on Instagram. She's also got a nice following on LinkedIn, and she has no long form content, but it was very clear to me. So this is. It's not me just going, it's the energy I wanna talk about.
In particular, one part of energetics that is highly linked to the tangible aspect of how you are making content, how you're showing up for your clients, how you're talking about what you do. I'm telling you this and I want you to also critically look at your content. Filled with love, filled with grace, filled with wow, like fresh eyes.
Look at this, okay? One thing that I said to her was, you're giving a ton of this advice, but you are not giving the raw edge of your voice. Her message is very polished. It's extremely helpful. It's so inspiring. It's very professional, but it was also very tidy, very soft, very structured. It's not like she meant to do that.
She's not hiding, you know, she's out there, she's not scared to share her story, and her story's very powerful. And it's definitely not because she likes confidence. She is a very out there person. She's, she's happy to be like, Hey, I'm in. I'm happy to be on all the podcasts. Put me on camera. I'm all good.
But you know what? She's subconsciously protecting something else. And I said this to her. When I'm speaking to her privately, she speaks like an absolute fire. Like, oh my God, her honesty, her grounded emotion. She's just got like zero performative tone when she's online. Oh, that performative tone, it just comes out.
It's not quite news reader, but there is something else where it's like, boom, like this mask comes up and she speaks in a different way. And I said to her, why is your online voice different to the way that we are chatting right now? And she didn't even realize, like, she's like, what are you talking about, rubes?
And I showed her, you know, one of the reels that she'd made and I said, we need this version of you that's fired up, passionate, angry, for the right cause. Not this tidied up, polished version of you. And I'm sure there's a time and place for that. Yeah, absolutely. But the real real is the woman sitting in front of me on the Zoom call, think about it.
And you and it, it's almost like the energy is, you don't have to pre soften. You don't have to over explain, you don't have to put on some sort of a voice mask. You know, sometimes it's in your voice, not just makeup and all of that. And filters. You don't have to worry about how it lands. And that's the thing.
I remember when I started out in my business, I was so worried about how it would land and I kind of swung the other way and I was like, I don't care anymore. I'm unapologetically myself. Yeah. And I was swearing like a sailor on LinkedIn and calling out all the bullshit that I hated, and yeah, I kind of went the other way.
It's all or nothing. Anyway, I, I found a nice tone and voice now that I can share what I need to share and I don't have to worry about how it lands because the way that you deliver it, this is the thing is done in a way that is still at the heart of it kind and helping somebody. If you look at the version of yourself, so I want you to think about it now, the version that would cut through online and also the people that you are following that's doing it in a way that is so badass and you are like, oh my God.
The way she says it is just like a powerful leader. Do you think that they are worried about how it will land? Do you think that they're worried to deliver the whole truth and nothing but the truth? No. And if you are anything like this client of mine who teaches beautifully, you communicate really well.
You know, you give so much, but you rarely declare what you stand for and why you stand for it. And by the way, that is not just a storytelling, that's not just a how to. You are going, you know what? If you are not achieving this by now, I believe that I can help you with that because bam, bam, bam, deliver on it.
Clearly the people going viral are sharing exactly what they believe in, and I know that you know this too, but I'm just gonna say it. It's not because they're smarter than you. You know that feeling when you're like, oh my God. Like they're not even that. Genius. They're not even that smart, and you're not trying to be mean in any way, but you're just looking at it for what it is, right?
What they're doing is they're simply saying the thing everyone else avoids saying, Hmm. Think about your client. And if they're seeing version you, version pre softened, very buttoned up version of you and somebody else who's just like, bam, calling out their insecurities. Bam. Calling out their bullshit, bam.
Saying everything that you are avoiding to say because you are too scared to be judged, to be canceled, all the things. Do you think that they are gonna be more seen by you or by them? Now I said this to my client and she's like, rubs like. If I start to share everything that I've been going through, if I show up completely as me and I'm talking to them the way that I'm talking to you, I don't wanna come across as a complaining bitch.
That's her words. Okay? And it's totally valid. But you know, in essence, she's saying, I don't wanna be negative. I don't wanna stir the drama. I don't wanna be harsh, I don't wanna be misread, I don't wanna be misunderstood. I am a kind person. I get that. You know, and she's like, also, I've been in corporate for so long.
I have this feeling of like, I need my words to be clear. I need to be responsible for my words emotionally. I don't want to draw in drama queens either. And I know like, you know, for those of you that have been in coaching, there is sort of this fear of. If you are too vulnerable, you drawing really hurt, vulnerable people and then it makes your whole coaching business really difficult because you're holding so much energy.
It's not that either. But I love that. 'cause I know for you, in essence as well, you want people to feel safe around you. And if you are constantly airing out all of your dirty laundry, you know, will someone feel safe around you? That is not what I'm saying. You have a time and place to share whatever dirty laundry you want to and whatever stories are really gonna cut through.
But I'm not talking about starting a daily or a weekly diary where you are talking about having a fight with your husband, being annoyed with your kids, feeling like you're overweight, not loving yourself. No one's gonna be attracted to that. I totally get it. You can do this with intention and beauty and wisdom, and you can also do the thing where you are edging into your truth.
You are calling out things in the industry, you're saying things about yourself that somebody else is gonna see as a mirror. You know, it's different. So you know, if you wanna go deeper. We you've been afraid to really show up and share your real, real message. Not just the how to and the top line, and being clever with copywriting and being so good with words.
I'm talking about the thing that sets you apart from the thousands of other people doing the same exact thing as you. And you know, I really wanna say that your strategy is likely solid. You probably have, I put this post out on Instagram the other day and I said, you probably have everything that I have.
To have this business go. I have a social media account. I have obviously, um, you know, a podcast. I have equipment, I have a laptop. I have, uh, wifi, the ability to share my message, and I have a way to receive payments. So you probably have all of that, but what is the difference between you and me potentially in terms of earning and cashflow?
So I am now, like this week, especially because I've had monetize your message open, I'm seeing thousands and thousands of dollars coming through every single day. You know, 4,000, 5,000, 6,000, even like. You know, over the weekend we saw 800 USD coming through on one day. Another day we had 600 USD. Weekends are a little quieter, 600 usc, just whilst we're doing our food shopping, running our sun around, you know, to play his sports.
What is the difference between you sitting there having everything that I have the same tools, the same social media platforms, and I really truly believe it's the way. That I'm showing up for my message. And the one thing that I believe in, and that is daily sales, and the reason why you are not making daily sales is because your message is not clear.
You don't believe it can happen for you. Your products are not clear. You are not spending the energy in the right places for this income and cash flow to unlock. And this is the part when I was saying this to her, she was saying to me that. She's had a lot of nervous system work in the past, a lot of coaching around her nervous system.
She's also had a lot of stress anxiety from corporate, so you know, if that's you as well and you are afraid of that judgment, but you are afraid of fully, fully going all in with your message. I want you to think about this as this identity and safety tug of war that's going on, and my client learned early on that being.
Responsible and kind and stable was how she maintained harmony and how she earned trust, not just within her old identity in corporate, but also within her family unit. She's the eldest daughter, shouter Taylor Swift, song eldest daughter. She's the go-to in her friendship group. So her nervous system was built around a very protective pattern of being measured.
So she, you know, for her it was extremely important to be clear and measured because she was the solid rock. Everyone in her whole entire life is going to. Meanwhile, she's incredibly attuned. So my client, she can feel people's reaction before they happen. Is that you as well? The thing like, so for example, I'll be, I'll be having my thinking face on, and this is on Zoom, right?
She's not based in Australia, so we're all on Zoom and she's like, oh my God, I know what you're gonna say. Or I, I know, I know exactly what you're gonna say to me. She'll even sort of say things like, you know, I was thinking about like jumping on the coaching call and I was gonna share this with you. And then I thought, what would Ruby say?
Ruby would say this, this, and this. So incredibly attuned to people's thoughts and she predicts how her words might be misinterpreted a lot. So there's this constant dialogue. If I say it this way, somebody might think of it this way. If I say it this way, then I'm definitely gonna offend this group of people.
I say it this way, oh, there's this friend of mine who's going through something really similar. I don't want her to take it the wrong way. So what's happening is if you are doing that too, you are unconsciously avoiding anything that might land wrong and what's happening. You are landing in a place that is so freaking boring.
So neutral. So me, me, me. Like, what is this? That's the problem. If you are really feeling this, that's a core of your messaging problem and you cannot get chat GPT to fix that. Okay? Step away from the ai. You can't be like, all right, this is what I wanna say. But I don't wanna offend Laura. I don't wanna offend my old employers and I don't wanna offend my mother.
So can you just make sure that it still hits, cuts through the algorithm, makes it super viral. I don't even care if it's viral, but gets through the buyer, gets the right people saving and sharing. It's still gonna spit out something so freaking generic. And if that's like, honestly, the thought process, I, I'm hoping that this is really, really digging deep into what you are thinking right now.
I want you to know also that this is you not being insecure. You are not insecure. This is high relational intelligence doing over time. So you are really, you're such a people person, and I love that about you. It is probably what makes you such a powerful coach. But the problem with this is that you've got no one to coach right now because your message is so blah and beige.
You are not getting visible, and it's not because you are afraid of being visible. You are afraid of being misunderstood. And I really hope I'm speaking to your unconscious mind right now because I know you are not afraid of being direct. You are actually really, really afraid of being misread. And maybe go back to the times when you have been misunderstood and misread.
And it's caused a huge thing in your life and it sucks 'cause you're like, that is not what I meant. Maybe you've had fights about it, disagreements. Maybe you've broken up with your life partners around that. It's not you being afraid of your truth. You are afraid that someone's gonna come along and twist the intention behind it and effectively grab your integrity and smash it to pieces.
Am I right? Because you value your integrity, you protect it fiercely. You also are so proud for being a kind, loving person, and right now your system right is feeling like, oh my God, no. Protect, protect, protect at all costs and therefore your message and your content, even the programs and the offers and whatever it is that you're putting out there is just so bland.
Because there's something unconscious running in your mind. Tone it down. Say it more gently. Wrap it in more explanation. Make sure no one feels attacked so your content, like my client, becomes the teacher version, is safe to be a teacher. A teacher is beautiful and trusted, structured and helpful, but a teacher for the most part.
I know I'm generalizing here. Is not someone who pierces the truth. They stick to the facts, they stick to the curriculum, they stick to the whatever is on their checklist, and there is a teacher quality in coaching. For sure, we need that. But if you are 99% teacher, you are missing it. You are missing the ability to help someone see themselves in your message.
I helped my client with that in this one session. Remembering guys, I only had 20 minutes. I only had 20 minutes after. She was like, blah, blah, blah, blah. Oh my God. Which again, great context, but that 20 minutes was so important. And I said to her, right, your truth isn't harsh. It's fire. Don't hold back when you know you are delivering something that your client absolutely needs to hear and you are not doing this to attack them.
And you're not doing this to be just loud for the Internet's sake. 'cause we know what those people are like and you see 'em and it's like, Ooh, it's not that. Okay? You're not trying to start a drama. I know that about you. My clients are not drama queens like you guys just, you are not. Why you're here. You wanna help people, you wanna make sure that you have enough financial stability to do this for a very long time because you don't wanna go back to what you were doing.
But if that is your intention and you are staying in the safe zone with your messaging, I'm telling you, you are gonna be in a world of pain for all of next year because you're gonna be wondering why your clients are not coming through. Alright? So think about it like if you and I were having a chat, if you have other coaches, your bestie, someone who you really open up to.
I want you to think about the voice and tone you use with them. So the voice and tone that my client used with me was like, oh my God. But she was laughing and she was like explaining stuff and then her online tone was, okay, so let's talk about this today. The reason why you are likely feeling this is like, oh my God, girl, I can tell, I can tell.
Also, I want you to think about the voice that is within you that like, I don't know the, the best way I can probably describe this is with my kids and maybe with my best friend who was in a really toxic relationship and I had to have this tone. But the tone is, you are kind and you are warm, and you are wise, but you are so direct at the same time.
You know that energy, like you just have to look them in the eye and be like, listen, I have your best intentions at heart. But you need to hear this because I know you are not hearing it from anyone else in your life right now. That's the tone. I also want you to link into the tone that comes from lived experience.
You have so much lived experience. I know you do. You have incredible stories. You have so many years of experience that you know, like honestly, I am in awe of what you've achieved and all the qualifications and all the years that you've been. Traveling the world and doing this and that, and going through relationship heartbreaks and friendship, you know, things, and that's all lived experience.
You're not performing. So why are you performing online? Okay? That voice, that version of you is not dangerous. She's not gonna break your brand. She's not gonna crumble everything out for you. It's not too much. You are not too much, you're not being too dramatic, and it's not confrontational. It's leadership.
And I looked at my client and I said to her, this is what we need more of. And she was crying you guys. She was crying and she's like, Ruby, nobody's told me that. The way that you've told me that no one's seen me the way that you've seen me. And she went on to share, you know, her stories about. Being told she had to be this buttoned up princess.
Like her grandfather would always say, you're a princess, you are a good girl. You know, and she's just brought that on like, I'm supposed to be a princess. Like, think about princesses. They're not allowed to say very much, are they? They're so beautiful and they're so, you know, like there's regal, you know, personality in, in society, but they are not allowed to talk about what's on their mind.
And she's like, okay, princess, move aside. So her message is becoming sharper and so will yours. Your content is gonna feel lighter. This is the other side of the bridge. Across the bridge. Your sales are going to increase. Your audience is gonna feel you more deeply and you'll start to see dms. This is the first sign when I started to be like, I am just saying what I wanna say, and it comes from a place of kindness, but truth, I started to get dms my loves.
Ruby, oh my God. The way that you said this, or I feel so seen, I feel so called out in the best way. Like just beautiful dms just saying, holy shit, girlfriend. Like, what? What? Like, that has blown my mind. I've seen therapists for years and you've just said it and all of this is happening. And by the way, you know, they turn into clients or they turn into amazing people who refer people.
And I become this version of me because I am no longer guarding myself from my own truth in the fear that it's going to be misread and that's not on me.
